Junior Boys Football Venue Change

Greater Western Year 7 and 8 boys football on 21 June venue has changed. The football will now be played in Stawell. All details have been updated on PAM permissions. Students must arrive at school for a 6:30am departure and will return to school at 6pm.

Intermediate and Senior Girls School Sport Victoria (SSV) Netball

Greater Western Region Competition

On 6 June, the Trinity Intermediate and Senior girls' teams headed to Ballarat to participate in the Greater Western region stage of the Secondary Schools Victoria Netball Tournament. The tournament consisted of 2 games during the rounds and if you finished top 2 in your pool, you progressed through to the semi-finals. The winner of each semi played off in the grand final.

The Intermediate girls lost 3 of their players with ankle injuries in the week leading up to the tournament but came together well as a side to be competitive on the day. They faced St Brigid's College in their first game and after a slow start, fought their way back into the game to end with a draw. They then played a much bigger Emmanuel College team who proved much too strong in the first half, however the Trinity girls regrouped at half time to produce a 1 goal difference second half. The damage had already been done though with the Trinity girls losing to Emmanuel. These 2 results placed Trinity second in their pool which progressed them through to the semi-finals. The girls played Mercy College in the and produced some of their best netball for the day. Unfortunately, within the last few minutes of the game, Mercy pulled out to a 3 goal lead and the girls ran out of time to get back in the game. Well done to all of the Intermediate girls. You produced periods of excellent netball and although this ends their involvement in the SSV Netball competition we look forward to them attending the Netball Victoria Netball Championships later in the year.

Regional Greater Western Senior Girls Football

The Senior Girls football team began our campaign on Friday 31 March against Colac Secondary College at the Central Reserve. Without much experience, the girls played tough football in blistery conditions. In the end, Trinity came away convincing winners with standout performances from Remi D, Maggie H, Briea M, Mackenzie M, Darcy P, and Holly U.

On Tuesday 23 May we travelled to Mack Oval in Warrnambool to compete against other Greater South Western Region teams. Our first match was tightly contested with quality ball movement and physicality right from the first bounce, with very little experience the girls showed valiant endeavor against Ballarat which was a more experienced team. At halftime the girls had worked hard defensively, won the ball out of the middle convincingly and were ahead on the scoreboard. In the third quarter, Ballarat stepped up and challenged us especially on the half back line but fortunately our defenders held strong and we ran away convincing winners.

In the second game we played Timboon and from the very beginning we dominated possession. Teamwork and skills visibly improved from the beginning of the day and the girls were celebrating after every goal we kicked to finish the game 78 point winners.
