Lukes gets Gold!!

Congratulations to Luke Alderslade (12.7) on recently becoming the first student to complete his Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award through the Trinity College Award Centre.

Luke’s activities as a part of his Gold Award included participation in the cycling, water polo and soccer for his Physical Recreation component, singing in College choirs and bands for his Skill section and participating volunteering in his role as a Youth Award Leader here at the College for his Service component.

Luke used his Year 11 Outdoor Education Camp to Dampier for his Adventurous Journey component, and also went on a Eddie Rice Camp for Kids for his Residential Project (an extra component which is specific to the Gold Award).

Luke should be very proud of all of these amazing accomplishments. Congratulations!

FAREWELL CLASS OF 2021: Year 12 Graduation

Congratulations to Trinity College’s newest graduates, the Class of 2021.

While the vitally important WACE ATAR exams await many students, the cohort celebrated their Graduation from the College on Thursday, 21 October with a full day of planned activities. This included:

Trinity Old Boy’s Association (TOBA) Breakfast and Presentations (Old Boys Tie)
Being piped in for the College Graduation Assembly which concluded in traditional fashion with the guard of honour and TC rumble on Centenary Park
Class of 2021 Graduation photo on Mann Oval
2021 Graduation Mass (with presentation of Graduation certificates) & celebratory Graduation Dinner both held at Optus Stadium.

For the Class of 2021 Graduation Day events to be so memorable and run so smoothly, it required substantial preparation, so I’d like to sincerely thank TOBA and the Auxiliary as well as College maintenance, administration, leadership, teaching and marketing/events staff for their outstanding support and contributions to the day.

The day’s events were made that much more memorable thanks to:

Tokyo Olympic Bronze medalist, Mr Jack Cleary (’12) for his inspiring address to the cohort during the TOBA Breakfast.
The highly entertaining Graduation Dinner MC’s Callum Lee and Troy Miller along with Tom Gavin, Jarrad Wood and Mr Fabio Egitto for providing both humorous and thoughtful student and parent reflections respectively.
The exceptional efforts of Samuel Zimmermann for pulling together the customary Year 12 Graduation video, which was an impressive finale and fitting way to look back on the achievements and memories made by the Class of 2021.

As their outgoing Head of Year 12, I feel privileged to have witnessed closely the cohort’s transition to being genuine and outstanding ‘Men for Others’ since they first came to the senior campus for Year 7 Orientation.

I’d like to offer special thanks to all parents and families who attended the events throughout the day – I trust that it will be treasured by all and your positive feedback following the event has been gratefully received.

Crazy Sock Day

On Monday 25 October, the Year 9 cohort led by Mr Testa and the student leaders banded together to organise Crazy Sock Day and raise money for Lifelink.

All students at the College were allowed to wear their wackiest pair of socks at the cost of a single gold coin. As well as this, Year 9 students and their families spent some time at home baking sweet treats for a cake stall that was open at both recess and lunch.

When the bell went for the start of recess, the cake stall was open and ready for business, and students from all year groups came to Carigg Court wearing their wacky socks to get some delicious goodies – business was booming!!

Thanks to the contributions and donations of all students and the generosity of time and energy of the Year 9 cohort, the College was able to raise $1454.90 for Lifelink. We look forward to presenting LifeLink with a cheque for this amount in the coming weeks.

With this donation, Lifelink can help deliver professional services and caring support to thousands of people in need all over Western Australia each year. Last year, LifeLink funded agencies reached out to help over 37,000 Western Australian families & individuals in need, delivering more than $60 million in caring services and professional programmes throughout WA.

We would like to acknowledge and thank all Year 9 families who contributed to the cake stall, and to the Trinity College community as a whole for their generosity on the day.
