ISA Basketball Report

On the 9th November we played against Oakhill College at St Greg’s with the following results:

  • UN13s Loss 14-43
  • UN14s Loss 21-23
  • UN15s Loss 9-39
  • UN17s Loss 24-28
  • 1st Win 84-55

In the 13's, Chayseton Mulholland led the team in scoring and Isaac Sykes grabbed plenty of rebounds.

 

The 14's was a close battle with Oakhill gaining the advantage in the remaining seconds of the game. Jake Wright & Josh Vaalotu had some nice finishes around the hoop & Steven Moran Briggs was relentless on defence.

 

The 15's game was a tough one for St Greg’s going down by large margin however Uoka Vaalotu & Tom Sheldrick played well.

 

In the 1st's game, St Greg’s got off to a slow start and we found ourselves down by 10 early in the game after some Oakhill triples. We began to turn the game around after a defensive spark led by Michael Zappia & Darcy Pullen. Dylan Ruiters was an excellent presence around the basket on both ends of the court and we managed to take the win 84 to 55.

 

On the 23rd November we played against St Andrews Cathedral School at St Greg’s with the following results:

  • UN13s Loss 15-45
  • UN14s Loss 32 -50
  • UN 15s Loss 26 -58
  • UN 17s Win 39 -30
  • 1st Win 81-59

In the 13's, Isaac Sykes & Cooper Clarke led the way with scoring for St Greg’s and Oliver Pullen was best in defence however we were unable to slow the scoring from St Andrews and lost by a big margin.

 

The 14's game was a much closer game than the scoreboard reflected as we were able to get within 2 points with 10 minutes left, however St Andrews got on a roll to win. Our backcourt tandem of Tyrell Kelly and Steve Moran Briggs did a great job of pressuring the ball to force some turnovers.   Our big men of Jake Wright and Josh Vaalotu were handy around the basket scoring and rebounding well.

 

The 15's game highlight was Trae Fitzpatrick hitting 3 Triples in a large loss. In the 17's the dynamic duo of Sam Corkhill and Jack Rule scored well to get the win for St Gregs.

 

In the 1st's game Lindsay Munro dished plenty of assists to our assists to our twin towers of Billy Pay & Dylan Ruiters to lead St Gregs to an easy 22 point victory.

 

On 30th November, St Gregory's College played 5 home games against St Stanislaus with the following results:

  • UN13's WIN 42-28
  • UN14's WIN 61-12
  • UN15's LOSS 20-47
  • UN17's WIN 37-26
  • 1st's WIN 79-62

The 13's game was impressive with the St Greg's team having their very first win of the competition! Excellent long range shooting was exhibited by Isaac Sykes & Chayseton Mulholland led the team in scoring and displayed some impressive ball handling.

The 14's game was a very easy win for St Greg’s thanks to the backcourt defence of Steven Moran-Briggs and Tyrel Kelly.  Josh Vaalotu led the way in scoring with 22 points.

 

The 15s St Gregs side had a tough game against Stannies and went down by 27. Jack Burrows was solid in defence with 2 big blocks and Brock Freeburn scored his first ever points with a nice finish around the basket!

 

The 17s St Gregs team were again very solid and had a nice win with another impressive performance displayed from Sam Corkhill.

The 1st Grade St Gregs team led throughout the game against Stannies and we won by a handy margin of 17 points. Lindsay Munro and Michael Zappia controlled the game well in both offence and defense. Darcy Pullen broke the game open in the 3rd Quarter with 3 consecutive Triples to pull away from Stannies with a nice lead.
