St Simon Footy Colours Day - Friday 10th September

The AFL finals are on their way! Who will be our winners for this year?

Our school wishes to get in the spirit of the finals by inviting all students to dress up in their favourite AFL football team on Friday 10th September.

On this day, there will be some fun AFL activities and competitions for students to take part in. More information will be posted in next week’s newsletter.

Swimming Program Prep, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 & Year 4 - Rescheduling Term 3 program

Our swimming program this year for prep, year 1 and year 2 was intended to take place at Paul Sadler Swimland Rowville, commencing on Monday 6th September to Friday 17th September for approximately 30 minutes each day. Currently our year 3 and 4 program has been scheduled for the first and second week of Term 4.

The extension of restrictions outlined by the Government has left us with no alternative but to look at new dates or a revised structure for our prep, year 1 and year 2 swimming program. Further information will be provided at a later date.

Currently, we are exploring alternate remote options to foster your child’s water survival skills and swimming capabilities from home. A website resource will be shared in the newsletter with parents and with students next week. This resource will provide students with home swimming and water safety videos which can be used to practise various different water skills in the comforts of your home.

Junior and Senior Hoop Time Basketball Competition

We appreciate all the support and encouragement of your child participating in the Junior and Senior Hoop Time Basketball competitions. Their enthusiasm to be part of this sport is commendable. Due to the uncertainty of restrictions, it has become increasingly difficult for organisers and schools to find a future date that caters for the high volume of teams. The uncertainty of a future date has led to a possible open day competition later in the year but this still has not been confirmed.

Until our school receives confirmation of this going ahead, we will be refunding all parents the cost of the competition for both Junior and Senior Hoop Time competitions.

The refund in cash will be put into your child’s classroom office tub and given back to your child on return to onsite learning.

SSV Virtual Cross Country for 2021

Students can run or walk for a new personal best or for fun and fitness. The main aim is for students to get out and give it a go.

Every meter run by a student will earn virtual points for their school. Students will be given the option to submit their performance with their parents permission, but if students wish they can also now have the additional option to not have their performance made public. This would be great if we could have plenty of student participation and even staff.
