New SSP, AIP & PDPs

School Strategic Plan

Our new School Strategic Plan (SSP) was developed by the Review Panel and Leadership SIT following the review fieldwork. This includes the goals and key improvement strategies for school improvement up until 2028. The new SSP takes in the views of students, staff and parents across our community. The SSP is based upon FISO 2.0 with two outcomes focused around Learning and Wellbeing. The key improvement strategies and suggested actions for future AIPs are focused around the five core elements: Leadership, Teaching and Learning, Assessment, Engagement, Support and Resources.

Over the next four years we aim to improve students' learning growth by building staff capacity to collaboratively plan and deliver a differentiated curriculum. We will do this through continuing to build the instructional practices in both literacy and numeracy. We will incorporate the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Model into our Jackson Teaching and Learning model. We will strengthen staff capacity to analyse data and other evidence to plan a multi-tiered response to student learning and wellbeing.

In FISO 2.0 Learning and Wellbeing rightly have equal importance to ensure that we improve the health, resilience and independence of all learners within and beyond Jackson. We cannot do this without strengthening our partnerships with families and the wider community. This will enhance the wellbeing and participation within an inclusive learning environment aligned to the Disability Inclusion reform.

We will continue to build a culture of collaboration through Professional Learning Teams with the support of Senior and Middle Leaders to ensure Jackson is a positive, safe and supportive learning environment for all. Our Leadership Team will now work in two School Improvement Teams (Learning and Wellbeing) to deliver our SSP. Julie (AP - Inclusive Practice) and Bern (AP - Community Partnerships) will transition into their new roles and portfolios to support the Learning and Wellbeing SITs to lead these key improvement strategies and actions over the next four years.

As part of the review process, we decided that Jackson's Vision and Values were still as relevant as they were in 2016 when they were developed. Even though I am very aware that we have had a high staff turnover during the last eight years, I believe the supportive culture as a collaborative learning community allows us to offer authentic, quality educational experiences that develop futures, create opportunities and inspire students' potential. Our purpose remains clear and our quality education programs enable our students to become valued and contributing members of the wider community.

The new SSP will be endorsed by School Council and our SEIL at the start of Term 4 and will officially be launched in 2025.

Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) 2024

Our current Annual Implementation Plan is based upon the 2020-2024 SSP. The AIP documents the annual plan for school improvement priorities and provides purpose for all members of the school community. The AIP is developed and monitored by the school leadership teams in consultation with staff. Schools use the Framework for Improving Student Outcomes (FISO) 2.0 improvement cycle to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate AIP.

Performance and Development Plans (PDP) 2024 - Review Stage

As a school, for the performance and development process in 2024, we will continue to use the state-wide alternative Statement of Expectation instead the standard Performance and Development Plan (PDP) process. Staff or reviewers are not required to complete any routine documentation or monitoring in eduPay.  However as a network, the Statement of Expectation word template is now greater aligned to the pervious process.

The 2024 Statement of Expectation for teacher class employees is aligned to the key improvement strategies of learning and wellbeing in the AIP. Teacher class employees are encouraged to consider how they contribute to these areas as appropriate to their role and setting. Further information about the Statement of Expectation will be provided early Term 1 as the state-wide goals have not yet been released.

PDPs in 2024 will continue to be completed in teams for teachers and ESS. Staff with other positions of responsibility will have a 1:1 PDP with your line manager.

At the start of the PDP cycle, Teachers were asked to complete a reflection against the High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS) and new High Impact Wellbeing Strategies. To download these documents please click on the buttons below:

PDPs: Education Support Staff

This term Education Support Staff in classrooms will have a group reflection with their sub-school Leading Teacher to reflect upon their collective successes and achievements, challenges and next steps. Any ES staff who would prefer a 1:1 PDP please let their line manager know.

With the Statement of Expectation, it is expected that Department Education Support Class employees:

  • will contribute to the AIP as appropriate to their role and setting.
  • will act with integrity and in accordance with the School’s and Department’s Values.
  1. Learning Goal: To build my capacity to support the educational outcomes for all students.
  2. Wellbeing Goal: To build my capacity to support students health and wellbeing and/or engagement and participation.

These goals can be modified for Education Support Staff who are out of classroom-based roles.
