Moreland Council’s ten year capital works cycling and pedestrian plan is open for consultation until 12 April 2022. Please take some time in the next week to let Moreland Council know how your walk or ride to school can be made safer.

You can comment on the proposed projects, AND drop a pin to highlight projects you’d like to see. Feedback can be left here:  https://conversations.moreland.vic.gov.au/the-programs.

Examples of road projects that will increase the safety of students and families traveling to school can be found in this wonderful article recently published by Victoria Walks: https://www.victoriawalks.org.au/maribyrnong-safer-speeds-for-kids-to-walk-to-school

Examples include:

  • pedestrian refuges
  • zebra crossings
  • threshold treatments
  • road closures
  • separated cycle lanes
  • kerb extensions

What thoughts do you have on how to better protect children who ride and walk to school? How can Council prevent rat running? Where do you think separated cycle lanes should be installed? Does our school community require more zebra crossings? Should parking outside our school be removed, or changed? Does the footpath outside the Blair Street entrance need to be widened?

Please help support our community to achieve safer, calmer streets, by participating in this opportunity to provide community feedback to Moreland Council.
