Year 12 students have been invited to join the Careers Team. I regularly post important notices and reminders in the chat. A range of resources and relevant documents can be found in the files section. Teams posts or chat is also a great way to send me questions and get a quick response.
All domestic students applying for courses at the end of the year will need an Australian Tax File number and all students are required to have a USI (unique student identifier).
Information on the Tax File Numbers, UIS’s and the UCAT has been posted in the Compass Newsfeed, on the Library noticeboard and in the Careers Team.
An invitation to join the Careers Team is on Compass.
Each year the VCE and Careers expo is held at Caulfield Racecourse. This year we will be taking Year 10 and Year 12 students. Most tertiary intuitions are represented along with the Armed forces, Police, and apprenticeship groups. Students can talk to representatives and current students, collect information, find out about new courses, and attend seminars. It is a great way to start preparing for subject selection later in the year and course applications. You can read more about the VCE and Careers Expo here. Families might like to attend the Saturday session.
The Work Experience Program is an established part of the Sandringham College Careers Education Program. The Work Experience Program provides students with a valuable opportunity to experience a taste of employment in the real-world, preferably in a vocation that is of interest to them. Students have the opportunity to learn first-hand about the workings of an industry, speak to industry professionals, identify alternative jobs within the area and find out about the qualifications necessary to pursue a career in that field. It is also anticipated that the WEP program will assist with future subject selection.
A letter and resources have been sent home providing more detail on the arrangements for this year. If you have any further questions, please contact the Careers Team.
The start of Career Education for Year 9 will begin at the end of Term 1. On the 16th of March, all Year 9 students will participate in the Morrisby Career Profiling program and this will be followed up in Term 2 with a 30-minute interview with an independent careers’ counsellor. More detailed information will be sent home shortly.
