School Council met online on Monday, 22nd November

 

Correspondence

Council responded to a letter from a school family regarding school uniform – and it was received and acknowledged.

 

Principal’s Report

  • Enrolment 2022 – Projected at 401
  • Parent survey results – 96 invites with 40 returned
  • Graduation plans being worked on but still needs to take place with some restrictions in place (which will remain until end of the year). Proposed date will be sent to parents this week. Suggested that testing needs to happen on audio grad session audio test happens due to audible issues from last year.
  • Kerri tabled 3 items which were all endorsed by school council
    • air purifiers in each classroom - recommendation to request parent donation to fund some of this
    • change to Year 2 sleep-over - recommendation to make this an extended day with various activities rather than overnight stay
    •  Proposed curriculum days for early 2022 - 28th January, 31st January, March 25th  

Resources Report

  • The Expression of Interest process for the OSHC Licence at MPW has been completed
  • Management report – school budget has been tabled
  • School budget is ready
  • Endorsed Book packs – reflect reasonable cost to families with minor increase but contains necessary items 
  • Movie night cancelled for 26th Nov and rebooked for Term 1 2022
  • Christmas raffle will be major fundraising event – will approach Jellis Craig for donation – suggestion for mini raffle for each class
  • Grounds and Capital works 
    • There is a proposal to request funding, 
    • bird bath and logs installed in sensory garden, 
    • condition assessment under review
    • successful in obtaining Shade Sail grant of $25,000

Education Committee Report

  • School Council endorsed various updated policies
  • program planning is underway to define next year’s goals
  • Further discussion re: dress code policy – last survey only had 45% response rate but of those, 60% in favour of compulsory uniform. Agreed there was enough data for to move forward with a final decision on compulsory uniform to be made before end of Semester 1 2022. In the meantime, work will commence on drafting the dress code policy.

Annual General Meeting 21st June 2021

On Monday 21st June Moonee Ponds West Primary held our Annual General meeting. At the meeting the school reported on the  2020 Annual report to the School Community. Please find attached the AGM presentation and the 2020  Annual Report to the School Community.
