Teaching and Learning

A COLLABORATIVE APPROACH

This week classroom teachers, leaders and LSOs all came together to discuss students’ learning and to work collaboratively to create student goals for the reminder of Term 2 and into Term 3. Teams also considered how these goals might be achieved and planned specific structures / supports to ensure success for all.

Thank you to our staff who engaged with this process and who kept the best interests of students in mind throughout.

NAPLAN ONLINE

Well done to all our Year 3 and 5 students who completed NAPLAN Online in the past 2 weeks. We are so proud of your efforts and positive attitude. It was wonderful to see you grow in confidence as the days progressed.

Thank you to our teachers who prepared our students well for the assessments and our families for their ongoing support.

Year 3 and 5 families, you will receive a report related to your child’s achievement in Reading, Writing, Language Conventions and Numeracy in either August or September, depending on when they are received by the school.

Hooray! We did it!

SCHOOL REVIEW

This year St James will undergo Review, as part of a 4 year cycle of school improvement.

Recently, teachers, LSOs and leaders have spent a number of staff meetings reflecting upon our current school practices and plotting ourselves along the SIF (School Improvement Framework) rubric; the basis of review for all Catholic schools in the archdiocese of Melbourne. The staff have fully immersed themselves in robust discussions in order to pin-point areas of strength as well as areas requiring greater attention.

We look forward to identifying specific priorities and planning future directions through the supportive process of school review.
