Parents Association

Message from Co-Chairs

Connie Sands & Virginia Pullman

Hello from the PA team.

It was great to see all the kids complete in the cross country last week, St James achieved some amazing results.

We have some amazing events coming up in the next months which will help rebuild our sense of connection and community this year and we can't wait to see all your smiling faces.

We have some major fundraising events coming up including the Colour Run and the Parents main event. It is important for all parents and the PA to be involved in fundraising each year. Every cent we raise,  helps our kids and school benefit from the money raised. Your valued support will contribute to the quality of education for all children attending St James, in particular we hope to use the funds this year to purchase a defibrillator and Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) equipment.

COLOUR RUN - rescheduled to 2nd September due to weather

The Colour Run has been rescheduled to Friday the 2nd of September and fundraising is still open, let’s all see how much we can raise before then.

As a bonus incentive, anyone that raises $50 or more will go into the draw to slime a teacher on the day plus the chance to win a razor electric scooter.  The class that raises the most funds earns themselves fish and chips for lunch.

Please make sure that you set up the students virtual profiles and share with family and friends. Donations can be made online or cash is also accepted.

MOTHERS DAY LUNCH

Mother’s Day SJ lunch is fast approaching this Saturday and we all can’t wait.  We have many mums attending at Elwood Bathers for a La Dolce Vita themed lunch. Thank-you to every-one that volunteered to help organise the day. Stay posted for some pics in the next newsletter.

BUNNINGS SAUSAGE SIZZLE

Thanks to Matt and Steph Glowaski for volunteering for the Bunnings BBQ. They will surely need some helpers for the day, so will let you know when the date has been confirmed.

PARENTS NIGHT OUT

Pop Saturday the 6th of August in your calendars for an amazing night out at Brighton Yacht club. Further details to follow including invite.

As we have been doing with all our events this year, we are spreading the load so that events don’t just fall on a few to organise.  Thanks to all that have volunteered to help with this event so far.

We now need help with raising auction items for fundraising.  If every family just raises one item to auction we would have over 200 items.

Do you have something you can donate or can you ask some-one you know?

  • A holiday house you could donate for a night/the weekend/a week?
  • A service that is your business or some-one else’s business? (i.e. interior design, painting, gardening, plumbing, electrical, hairdressing, beauty, building, accounting, legal services and so on)
  • A regular hairdresser, butcher, bar, cafe, fruit shop, restaurant, shop, beautician, retail shop etc. that you can ask?

If for example it’s your holiday house or so on, we can create a voucher for you if needed, and you just let us know the details.

Next time you go somewhere in the local area, you could ask for a donation.  As mentioned above, the funds will go to PMP equipment and a defibrillator.

We have created a fundraising spreadsheet so we don’t double up on what we are following up for auction items. Please add items that you are chasing up (potential donations) or items you have raised to the sheet. If they don’t eventuate, you can just remove them from the sheet.  Virginia and I have added items, so you can see what we have done.

THANK-YOU

The PA are very grateful for the continued support of all our parents, school community and our local community.  All our PA members are volunteers who volunteer their time to help our kids and to organise events for you, so please remember to always be kind and to always book your tickets to events early, so it makes planning easier.
