The Principal's Pen

Last week I shared with the Secondary students a message about being open to seeing things in a different way. We are often given encouragement from those around us, which is wonderful, but sometimes it is hard to be encouraged if you can’t see the bigger picture. The troubles and pressures that we feel are all too real and it can be difficult to see past them. A verse in the Bible talks about God giving us new mercies every day, a timeframe I find can be much more manageable. If I know that it is a new day, that yesterday is over and I can have a fresh start today, it can significantly change my outlook. I could even break it down further into smaller parts of my day, if that’s all I can handle. In our world today, this way of looking at things can be very helpful.

That change of focus is available to all of us. Families can start fresh each morning, students can approach their learning with a renewed motivation, staff can take on the new day’s classes with enthusiasm. In all of this, God’s love for us is constant and available. Love and mercy – such a wonderful combination.
