Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

The Year 3-6 Cluster Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday 1st April and volunteers are urgently required to assist with the running of events.  If you can assist, please email Joel or contact the office.

As a pre-cursor to the Cluster Athletics, this week students in Years 3-6 participated in the High Jump event.  Many thanks to Joel for volunteering his time to run this event and to all staff for their support.

In recognition of Harmony Day, next week classes will be participating in a range of activities celebrating our country's cultural diversity.  We will be sharing photos from these activities in next week's newsletter.

On Tuesday 22nd March, students in Years 5 & 6 will attend a presentation at the Mount Beauty Community Centre with guest speaker and Australian of the Year, Dylan Alcott.  As one of Australia’s most recognised Paralympians & sports people, Dylan has also worked extensively in the media and has established his own foundation to support young people living with a disability.  Our thanks to the Alpine Shire for providing this wonderful opportunity for our students to hear first hand about Dylan’s story of resilience, persistence and achievement.

Friday 25th March is 'Ride to School Day'.  Active travel is a great way to support a healthy lifestyle and students and families are encouraged to walk, ride or scoot to school next Friday.

On Tuesday 29th March, students in Years 3 & 4 will have the opportunity to participate in a roller-skating session in Bright.  This event, including transport, has also been fully sponsored by the Alpine Shire as part of their Community Health and Well-being program.

Families are reminded that, inline with health advice for primary schools, masks are still required to be worn when entering buildings.

Your assistance in protecting our students and staff from illness is greatly appreciated.

A reminder that Rapid Antigen Test kits can be collected from the office in the morning, from 8.45am and 9.15am  or in the afternoon from 2.45 - 3.15pm.

Wanted: Expressions of interest from individuals who are suitably qualified or experienced in undertaking general maintenance works on a casual basis.  May suit a retiree or someone seeking occasional extra hours.  For more information, please contact the office on 57544354.

Families are asked to please update student absences via the Compass portal.  Currently we have a number of unexplained absences and ask that all families please assist by updating any unexplained absences as soon as possible.  NB. The attendance function has recently been updated on the Compass app.  Guidance is available on the Attendance page of this newsletter.

School photo orders and family bookings can now be made via Compass.   For more information, please refer to the School Photos page of this newsletter.
