Letter connections

How wonderful it was to take some time on Sunday afternoon to read the collection of letters written by our Years 3-6 students. Assuming this Wellbeing and Engagement role has seen a priority of getting to know our students. Connections are paramount to understanding the perspectives of our students and being able to assist them. Thank you to everyone who took the time to write a letter, I appreciate you sharing with me snippets of your worlds.

Social and Emotional Learning

This fortnight, our Social and Emotional Learning has continued, with Years F-2 students looking at the ways in which we can build friendships, and Years 3-6 students considering their personal strengths. Year F-2 classes started to capture friendship qualities in Word Clouds. In our next Year 3-6 sessions, we will explore ways in which we can use our strengths to achieve our 2023 goals.

NAPLAN 2023

In 2023 NAPLAN will again be conducted online.  Students in Years 3, 5, 7 & 9 across Australia will undertake the four NAPLAN assessments (Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language and Numeracy). All tests, except for the Year 3 Writing, will be completed online via the NAPLAN Online testing platform. Year 3 students will complete their NAPLAN Writing test using paper and pen/pencil.

Our NAPLAN test sessions will take place between Wednesday March 15th and Friday 24th March, with ‘catch up sessions being held on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th March. Many of our sessions will be undertaken in the first two sessions of the day, it’s important that students arrive on time. Letters have been sent to all families with students in Years 3 & 5. Please see your classroom teacher, Amanda or Jarrod should you have any questions about NAPLAN.

Next week, we will run practice test sessions to ensure that devices are set up and ready for NAPLAN 2023. This will also give our Year 3 students an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the NAPLAN platform too.

The Australian Curriculum and Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) have developed a suite of demonstration NAPLAN tests available to the public. This is also a way in which students and their families can become familiar with the format of NAPLAN. Demonstration tests are available through the following link: https://www.nap.edu.au/naplan/public-demonstration-site

Our test schedule is as follows:
