Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

This is our new school year! I would like to warmly welcome all our new students and their families to our school. Our Kindergarten classes began last Thursday. Kindergarten students have completed their Best Start Assessment to prepare their learning program for their first year of primary school.

I would like to welcome our new staff members;  Deputy Principal Mrs Ibrahim will be here this year relieving for Mrs Needham who continues her leave in 2021.

Clasroom teachers; Mrs Smith KT, Miss Bhattar 1V, Miss Lee 3M and Mr Harris.

Mrs Bakhshay is newly appointed to our school office.

Miss Whitelaw has been appointed as our school counsellor Tuesday and Wednesday.

I am sure our new staff will make a positive contribution to our school over the next few years.

Our class organisation is based on the most appropriate placement for students based on our school staffing allocation.  The school is funding additional classes to reduce class sizes. This will ensure more teacher time for all students in all classes.

A big thank you to those parents who have purchased uniforms from the uniform shop. It has been a very busy week and it is impressive to all see our students in full school uniform. It shows great pride in our school. Online ordering will continue this year.

I encourage all parents to attend our next P&C meeting on Wednesday 17 February at 7.00pm in our school staffroom. Our P&C worksto support our school and ensure the services we have provided in the past continue this year for our students and families.

Girraween P.S. has a long tradition of providing high quality education programs with high expectations and high achievement. We need to continue working together to ensure our school maintains high academic standards and continues to offer a well rounded education including academic, creative arts, sports, respect and responsibility as well as maintaining a happy and safe learning environment.

We’ve had a very positive start to the school year. I look forward to another productive year for our school community here at Girraween Public School.

Regards,

G. Walker
