Dear Parents and Caregivers, Konnichiwa!

Start of the 2019 School Year

We have had an excellent start to the 2019 school year at Grange. Our enrolments are now 757 children across 28 classes. A special welcome to our new children and families starting at Grange and to the new teaching and support staff joining us this year. We have had only a few teacher changes from 2018 and welcome Hayley Gladigau (Year 1 teacher), Daniel Moyle (Year 5/6 teacher), Jasmine Pearce (Year 6 teacher), Rebecca Lokan (Literacy coach) and Maureen Hegarty (Mathematics coach) to Grange. The new support staff at Grange in 2019 are Amy Kretschmer, Kate Gaughan and Leanne Sclater.

Our teachers and support staff have worked very hard prior to our first day in organising and preparing classroom learning environments, resources and materials to provide a structured, ordered and well prepared environment ready for learning. New and returning students were also happy and ready for learning.

As many of you are aware our school, staff and the parent governing body of Governing Council are committed to continual improvement, with the ultimate aim of every student being the very best they can be.

From this school year we have strengthened our professional support for teachers through a coaching and mentoring strategy. Alongside the work of our outstanding Senior Leaders in the school we have appointed three curriculum coaches in

• Literacy- Rebecca Lokan
• Mathematics- Maureen Hegarty
• Technology- Chris Philbrook

These three excellent teachers will work intensively alongside all classroom teachers to model, co-teach, co-plan, share, collaborate and extend best teaching practice.

I look forward to working in collaboration with our students, parents and staff in achieving our goal of moving Grange from a good and great school to one that is consistently outstanding. With such a highly skilled, happy, committed, enthusiastic and passionate group of educators as we have at Grange in 2019 this goal is well on track.
