Principal's Report

Dear parents, carers and students,

We have had a wonderful first week of the school year.  I have so enjoyed seeing all of the smiling faces arriving for school every morning eager to catch up with their friends and tell me stories about their holidays.  A very special welcome to all of of our new students and their families.  Naranga has 31 new students joining us this year!  I'd also like to welcome our new staff to the school community.  It's so good to have you on Team Naranga.

On Wednesday night we held our Welcome Back to School BBQ- it was great to see so many families there.  I had the chance to meet a number of our new families as well.  If you missed out on the opportunity to meet your child's teacher, you will another chance at the Student Support Group meetings.  This year's first SSGs will take place the week of February 13-17.  A booking sheet will be sent home in the coming week.  There are a range of appointment times available to suit every family.  Remember that Wednesday 15 February is a curriculum day to all for SSG meetings to occur during that day for families whose after school schedules are very busy.  If you are finding it difficult to come to school for a face to face meeting, please arrange for a phone or video conference instead.

Term 1 is very busy.  Teachers will be conducting assessments and preparing Individual Education Plans which will come home at the end of term.  We also have a school review on the calendar this term.  Stay tuned for announcements about the school review.  There will be opportunities for parents and carers to have a voice in the review process.  We have availability on our School Council for new members.  A call for nominations will be distributed next week.  If you'd like to be part of the Council, please nominate.  If you'd like more information about the role of School Councillors, feel free to give me ring at school to discuss in more detail.

There are lots of exciting things underway at Naranga and I encourage you to stay connected to the school through this newsletter, the website and of course the Sentral app.

I look forward to working with the whole school community again in 2023.
