Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

As next week is our last week of term, school will be finishing on Friday at the earlier time of 2.30pm.  In addition, students are invited to come dressed in the theme of 'sporty' clothes.  Please ensure students are dressed suitably for skipping, as on Friday we will also be holding our final 'Jump Off' for Jump Rope for Heart.  To provide additional support for student's fundraising efforts, we are asking students to please bring a gold coin donation. All funds will go towards supporting the Heart Foundation's research.

On Monday, students in Years Prep-4 will have the opportunity to participate in a puppetry workshop with Blank Canvas presenters.  This event is being provided in conjunction with Victorian State Schools Spectacular, and will provide students with the opportunity to learn the art of puppetry, story creation and presentation.

Tomorrow, we wish Rowan, Mac, Nina and Ferdi all the best of luck as they head to Benalla to participate in the Regional Cross Country event.  We hope they all have a great experience and look forward to hearing all about it next week.

During the holidays, our school will be undertaking some restoration/building works to repair the 5/6 and admin block ceilings and roof, along with some restumping and drainage works.  To optimise safety, OSHC Vacation Care will be running out of the BER building throughout the holidays and families are advised that access to the school is restricted to Tennis Court Avenue.  Please DO NOT park or enter the school via the staff carpark.

Next term our school is participating in the Thriving Kids and Parents Schools Project.  This provides families with the opportunity to attend three online seminars designed to support students' social and emotional well-being.  To take advantage of this opportunity, please register before the 26th June.

Falls Creek Race Club is offering a Bendigo Bank Scholarship for 50% of program fees for winter 2023.  Applications close on the 21st of June and are open to all students in the  surrounding alpine regions.  For more information on how to apply, please refer to our community notices.

As students continue to present with COVID - like symptoms, families are urged to please keep your child at home if they are unwell. We also ask that you please continue to test for COVID if they are showing any symptoms. RAT's can be collected from the office.

The Australian Mathematics Competition is on again this year and will be held in August.  We are now seeking expressions of interest from students in Years 3 - 6, who would like to participate.  The cost of entry is $8 per student and participation can be submitted on Compass through Events.

We have been advised of a Compass login update. Families are now able to use their mobile number in conjuction with your unique family code.
