Term 1: Career News

Year 9 My Career Insights Program

This term has been off to a busy start in the careers space. Over the last 2 weeks our Year 9 cohort has completed the My Career Insights program.  This involves a 2-hour assessment that generates a report and a portal with career and subject suggestions, information and support that students can access at any time. Each student has had the opportunity to meet with a career practitioner over Webex and discuss their report and how to navigate the portal.

The profiling session involves 8 timed aptitude tests and 2 interest and personality multiple-choice questionnaires. Year 9 students will continue to revisit their reports throughout the year in order to build their career action plans, select their subjects for the following years, plan for work experience in Year 10 and explore their options for the future.  Students are able to access their reports online through the Morrisby website and can continue to do so even after they have moved on from South Oakleigh College.  Students are also able to grant parent access to their profiles so parents can take part in study path, action planning and career discussions at home.

I look forward to re-visiting students’ My Career Insights reports over National Careers Week in May where we will use the portal to build a career action plan and explore the world of work further.
