EDUCATION IN FAITH AT HOLY SPIRIT

Next week marks the start of the Lenten season. Lent is the period of 40 days which comes before Easter in the Christian calendar. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, Lent is a season of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter. During Lent we prepare our hearts and minds for Easter. lent is not just about giving things up but also about taking up.

  • Taking up being kind to others
  • Taking up making time for God in you day.

During Lent we are called to pray, fast and give alms. Almsgiving is  the act of donating money, food, or other items to the poor or needy.

SHROVE TUESDAY

Caritas Australia is the international aid and development organisation of the Catholic Church in Australia. Project Compassion is their major fundraiser that runs throughout the Lenten season.

Next week we will begin our fundraising for Caritas and Project Compassion with the 1/2's selling pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.

More details to come on Dojo.

Just 5 weeks to go till we celebrate the Parish’s 50th anniversary.  Plans are well under way to make this a wonderful and joyous occasion.  We are blessed and excited to have Archbishop Peter Comensoli as the Principal Celebrant.  So please spread the word.

Holy Spirit is a child safe parish.  We hold the care, safety and well being of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of our Parish.

HOLY SPIRIT 50th YEAR

Dear Holy Spirit Community School family

We would like to issue a personal invitation to you all, teachers, parents and students, to join with us in celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Holy Spirit Parish.

This is a significant time in our collective parish history, and Holy Spirit Community School has always been considered an integral part of our parish collective.

Our school was conceived after considerable debate as to whether the parish wanted/needed a school.  However, once decided everyone joined in to make it happen.

The Parish fete was originally begun through the Parish Pastoral Council, because of the need of the school for additional funds. Funds that cake stalls would not provide.

Throughout the years many parishioners have worked so very hard to make our fete what it is/was and will be again.

We are all parishioners of “our place”, and we would like as many people as possible to be a part of this celebration.  There is the opportunity to learn some of the history of our beginnings, to tell us how you see “our place” now, and what your hopes and dreams are for the future of this special place. Please take a little time to tell us your stories.  Are you a second, third generation parishioner? You can fill out the cards available or simply email your story, or your parents and grandparents stories to us.  hs50@holyspiritparish.org.au

Please join us on 27th March to celebrate fifty years of Holy Spirit and to be a part of the next Fifty!

Thank you

Holy Spirit 50th Celebrations Committee
