Year 7 Art

In Art this term the year 7’s are completing an ALT that explores the Art Movement Dada and the technique of collage. During face to face learning the students worked in groups to develop drawing skills by creating ‘Exquisite Corpses’ as part of the study. This task required students to draw different parts of a creature without looking at what their fellow group members had drawn. These cool, crazy, creepy and creative collaborations were so much fun. The students worked well together and had a laugh as their final products were revealed.

Here are just a couple of the fantastic pieces that were produced (please note, mask were pulled down for the photo and put back on immediately after).

As we move in and out of lockdown the year 7 art students have continued to demonstrate our school values of integrity, creativity and community. We are proud of their dedication to Art and encourage them to keep creating at home

Art Academy

This term in Art Academy students have shown amazing dedication to their art-making. Students have adjusted to changes in online and face-to-face programs with an inspiring level of resilience and professionalism. In face-to-face learning we have explored acrylic painting methods and techniques. Students were given the opportunity to create a painting that reflected their personal style and interests; building on their growing knowledge of composition theory. During online learning we have consolidated our understanding of drawing techniques and styles. Students have also been provided with the opportunity to curate an online virtual reality exhibition with a recurring theme. We look forward to seeing what our eclectic bunch of artists produce as we move into student-directed projects next term.

Product Design

In Product Design the students are currently focusing on client focused design.  Unit 1 student, Tonkhow Udomporn, designed and made this beautiful little hand bag. It's made using floral printed canvas for the outer construction and is lined with polyester satin. It closes with a full length zip and has a sturdy handle. As part of the brief, Tonkhow had to consult with her client to develop details on a custom made yoga mat bag.
