Feedback from school community regarding uniform

Thank you to everyone who welcomed me back to the College after my recent leave and thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey on our current and planned uniform policy guidelines. The information gathered from the community will inform the decision making of the School Council, who on the behalf of parents set the uniform guidelines.

We have already actioned one uniform change which is the introduction of a sports rugby top that can be worn in winter or summer as a part of the sports uniform. This optional rugby top is now available to purchase from Bob Stewarts.

After the success of last year's initiative, we will be undertaking a Year 11 student blazer buy back in Term 4. The PTF and school will be providing further information about this process prior to the end of this term. For new Year 11 parents, the buy back involves the school purchasing blazers from the Year 11 cohort that are then sold to families in years 7-10 through our PTF second hand uniform shop.

1. Currently the uniform guidelines allow students to wear two pairs of earrings, but only sleepers or studs. The College is considering the option for students to wear 'drop earrings' up to 2 cm in length. Do you support the change to allow students to wear two pair of earrings up to 2cm in length?

YES = 71%

2. The current soft shell jacket may only be worn when students are wearing the sports uniform and may not be worn as an alternative to the school blazer when wearing the regular school uniform. Do you support the retention of the current royal blue 'soft shell jacket' as a part of the College's sports uniform.

YES = 85%

3. The College is considering the option of a long sleeve rugby top that may be worn as a part of the sports uniform for all students in years 7-11. Do you support the introduction of an optional long sleeve rugby top as a part of the sports uniform?

YES = 91%

4.The College is considering the option of royal blue sports leggings (labelled with the school logo) that may be worn instead of the current sports shorts as part of the sports uniform. Do you support the introduction the the option of royal blue sports leggings as a part of the sports uniform?

YES = 85%

5. The College is considering the option of a school scarf, with school logo, that can be worn in the winter months. Do you support the introduction of a school scarf?

YES = 85%

6. Whilst there are no plan to change the current casual dress guidelines for Year 12 students, we would like to collect community opinion on the College's dress code policy for Year 12. Do you support the continuation of the College's 'no uniform' policy for Year 12 students?
YES = 83%

Staff changes

We have had two staff resignations during Term 3. Mr Peter Toronyi (Maths and Science) has left to College for health reasons and Jinwei Tang (Maths and Science) has resigned to pursue further study. We welcome Zoe Yang (see 10-12 Campus News) who has already commenced work and Chin Huan, who joins us in Term 4. Chin comes highly recommended, and is the recipient of a teaching award in the NT. Chin has also run a robotics program similar to our own. He will be a great asset to our College and our Maths/Science/STEAM programs.
