Victorian Interschools Alpine and Cross Country Competition

Sports Report

My first newsletter piece since taking over the role as Sport Coordinator, was supposed to read a little different to this. I was going to share how well the Year 7 & 8’s have been going in their weekly interschool competition; there was going to be lots of pictures and top performances to share from the College Athletics and I was going to wish the intermediate boys and girls basketball teams the best of luck for their round robin.

Unfortunately lockdowns have interrupted the sport schedule for us all at Sandringham. Whilst the Year 7’s were lucky to manage their matches against Brighton, it is a waiting game to see how the remainder of the term will play out. Congratulations to the Yr 7 girls Futsal and boys Basketball teams on their win and to the boys Futsal team who had a draw. Mr Vasey describing it as ‘a ripper game with great saves and goals!’.

Sandringham College has a team entered in the Victorian Interschools Alpine and Cross Country Competition scheduled at Mt Buller in September. Good luck to Christie and Bethany Perry-Crockart, Poppy Peetoom, Jack Painter, Lara Jones, Ella Green, Indiana Speirs and Ethan Gendala. I look forward to sharing how they performed in the next newsletter.
