ROOM 22

Term three events in Room 22

By Kelly Graham Room 22

On the 12th of July we came back and we were good.

On the 13th of July we had canteen. On the 14th of July we had Brite Industries. Brite is a place we go for work experience.

On the 16th of July we did remote learning.  On the 26th of July it was still remote learning and we even had a class meeting via Webex.

It was not a good day for me on the 29th of July, everyone else was fine but then on the 30th of July I felt better. On the 1st of August I met Lilly, she is a support worker. We went to Pretty Sally Cafe in Wallan and then played in the park.

On the 3rd of August it was canteen and we made lunch for everyone.

On the 4th of August we went to Brite again and we took a tour and packed boxes.

On the 5th of August we learnt about polygons.

And finally on the 9th of August we started the final lockdown which we are still in.

Secondary Sub School News

Here is a selection of images taken from our onsite and remote learning experiences over the past week. All of these images have been taken from the seesaw platform. If any parents would like some more information on how you could use seesaw please get in touch with your Teachers. It can be tricky at first, but it is a very flexible program.

The Secondary Sub School continues with our weekly classroom team meetings and Professional Learning Communities as usual. These spaces allow us to collaborate in teams to reflect on learning goals, assessment data and student engagement information to develop individual learning plans for all students. It has been a pleasure to be involved in these conversations as we maintain our dedication to putting student outcomes at the forefront of everything we do. Semester 2 PLSP goals will be shared with you all by the end of  Week 10, Term 3.

SBAT

(School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships)

at Northpoint Centre Tullamarine

Five of our VCAL students, continue to complete their SBAT at Northpoint Centre, a not for profit charitable entity in Tullamarine.  The students are completing a Certificate II in Warehousing Operations (LI21616). The students attend 2 days a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays where they complete 1 day of theory and 1 day of paid practical warehousing work. The students work alongside volunteers to pack and process food relief for people in need. Students are supervised at all times by a Manager/Team Leader/Trainer of the workplace.

Upon successful completion of this qualification, the students will have knowledge and skills surrounding the functions, routines and procedures of jobs in warehousing and storage.  The students participating will also obtain credit towards their VCAL outcomes.

The students have enjoyed taking part in learning about OHS-occupational health and safety, packaging of goods, receiving and dispatching of stock, stocktakes, shifting materials using manual handling methods and processing workplace documentation.

The students are all doing very well according to their Trainer and are all expected to successfully complete their qualification, if they continue to attend and apply themselves as they have so far.

We are very proud of the students for their commitment and performance of duties in their SBAT so far.
