  • Are you aware that OGEA has received 9.5% in salary increases since the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year?
  • In the spring of 2022, OGEA settled for a 5.5% retroactive salary increase for last year.
  • In June of 2022, OGEA settled a 4% salary increase, beginning in August of this school year.
  • Our contract has built in salary increases of another 9% over the next two years.

Benefits (Article 13)

  • Are you aware that the OGEA contract guarantees how much the district will contribute to your health benefits?  This reduces the amount that comes out of your paycheck.
  • OGEA negotiated a $100 increase in district contributions for 2022.
  • Health care companies are allowed to raise premiums every January.  OGEA negotiated a $50 increase in the amount the district will contribute towards your health benefits in January of 2023.

Class Size (Article 15)

  • Are you aware that your collective bargaining agreement covers class sizes and special education ratios?
  • Primary class sizes (TK-3) are set at a 24 to 1 district wide ratio.  The district can put up to 26 students in a class with extra payment to the teacher.
  • Upper Grade class size is 32 to 1.  The district can put up to 34 students in a class with extra payment to the teacher.
  • Middle school student caseloads may not exceed 175 per day and 35 per class for most subjects.  Please refer to article 15.

Are you aware that, as an OGEA member, you are part of a democratic organization that helps determine the rules you are employed under in your collectively bargained agreement?  You get to give input into the bargaining process, vote for OGEA leadership to direct bargaining, and vote on whether or not to accept the bargaining agreements.
