Engage Program

This is the final week for the current Engage Program, which means after 10 weeks our students will be returning to their regular classes.  It has been such a wonderful opportunity to connect with our kids and help them to enjoy school a little more, after 2 years of lock-downs.

Our students have really enjoyed Hands On Learning with Paul and Holly, helping to fit out the shed and begin building a Community Pantry.  We have collected blankets and towels to donate to Second Chance Animal Shelter as we have learned about animal welfare.  To help us learn about directions and problem solving we did a Treasure Hunt around the school, which was really fun. This term, to prepare to return to classes, we have been learning about perimeter and area in numeracy and also explored the Middle Ages to learn more about Medieval History.

To top off our program, we are heading into the city to visit Eureka Skydeck.  Some of us may even do the Edge Experience, where you stand in a glass bottom cage over the city, 88 floors high!

After a few hundred toasties, a record setting 216 words from our board Boggle, 50 check ins/check outs and daily Acknowledgments of Country’s, Friday 20th May will be the last day and we will really miss our students. We hope they feel like they have made positive connections and feel more confident back in their classes, and know that we are always here to offer our support.  Thanks for a great (and crazy) 10 weeks!!

Soon we will be welcoming our next round of students and hoping to do the same all over again!  Until then – IF YOU CAN BE ANYTHING IN THIS LIFE, BE KIND! Deb, Paul and Sara.
