Australian Math's Competition

Thank you to all students who participated in the 2021 Australian Mathematics Competition.

Today results and certificates have been sent home with students. It is a great opportunity for students to participate and see where they are at!

Foundation One Activity Day

As part of the MPW camping program, each year the Foundation and Grade One students participate in an after-school event. This event forms the beginning of our school camping program, by providing children with the opportunity to experience time away from family, outside of regular school hours. The next step is a sleepover in Grade 2 and then camps for children in Grades 3-6.

This year our camping program has looked a little different. On Thursday 9th December the Foundation and Grade One classes will participate an all-day activity extravaganza! Students will participate in a range of activities across the day focussing on developing independent skills just like you would at camp!

In addition, a lunch pack will be provided to students on the day.

2021 Grade 6 Graduation Ceremony

The 2021 Graduation Ceremony is fast approaching and preparations for this momentous event are underway. Graduation is scheduled for Tuesday 14th December.

This year's ceremony will again be modified due to the current safety requirements due to COVID-19. Where possible we are maintaining the usual model for the Graduation Ceremony.

Unfortunately, we will again be unable to have families join in to celebrate onsite due to density limits for the spaces we have available. Instead will be offering a ‘live stream’ of the celebrations and providing a copy of the night digitally on a USB. We will send out the details for the live stream once organised.

The night will comprise of a number of parts:

1. The night will commence with the opportunity for pre-photos between 5:00pm and 6:00pm. During this time students will drop off their dinner in the 5/6 building and then make their way to the tiger turf area to meet their parents for a photo opportunity with the graduation arch and school bell tower as a backdrop. Social distancing is required to be observed between families. Parents are required to come in through the front gate in order to sign in using the QR code outside the main office, to record who has been onsite. Social distancing must be observed. After signing in, you will be able to meet your child for photos outside the bell tower. Students will return to the 5/6 building after their photos, where they will be able to socialise and watch their photo collage presentation. Students are encouraged to wear casual but neat clothes. They should feel comfortable in what they are wearing.  Students will be required to wear a face mask when indoors.

2. Dinner will commence at 6:00pm before the ceremony. Students are able to bring their own individual food and drinks for dinner, however will not be able to share their food with their peers.  Students will be seated in the 5/6 building with a small group of their peers.  Teachers will discuss this with students closer to the day.

3. The official ceremony, which will be professionally live streamed to parents and families, will commence at 7:00pm. Students will lead the graduation ceremony where they are presented with a copy of the Graduation Writing Book, their Graduation Bear, an MPW tote bag and a USB with photos and the recording of the night (given later). A Graduation class photo will be taken for each class on the night during the formal presentation. Students will receive a digital copy of their class photo on the USB. In addition to formal proceedings, students will also deliver a group performance that will reflect their experiences and time during their primary school education.

4. Following the ceremony students are invited to attend a disco in the gym to end the celebrations for the night. During the disco, students will be able to take photos with their friends at the arch in front of the bell tower. The night will officially conclude at 8:45pm. At this conclusion of the night, students will be dismissed from the gym. We ask that parents will be available to collect students at this time from outside.

This has been another unusual year. We would love to be able to welcome families to attend in person but this is not possible due to spacing requirements. We hope you understand our adjusted ceremony.

Grade 5/6 Picnic Day

To celebrate the end of our school year, children in grade 5/6 will have a picnic together on Wednesday 15th of December. We will walk from school to Queens Park, where children can use the playground and sports equipment.

We have organised an ice-cream van to meet us there and provide the children with an ice-cream before we walk back to school.

Please ensure your child wears appropriate footwear and clothing for the weather, and that they bring their own packed lunch, small sunscreen, wide brimmed hat and drink bottle (no sharing of food items is allowed at this point). The children will be accompanied by their classroom teachers and some extra staff to supervise.

If your child is unable to walk to the park for some reason, please talk to your child’s teacher to make a plan around this.
