SPORTS NEWS,

CSC Annual Swimming Carnival

Despite an overcast day, on Monday February 27th, many students attended the annual House Swimming Sports. Year 12 students, following past tradition, dressed up in costumes such as superheroes, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, cheerleaders and a vast array of other colourful outfits. Students braved the cooler conditions to participate in freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and relay races. An Open Butterfly event launched the carnival.  Non-competitors were given a chance to use the waterslide towards the end of the carnival.

The results were as follows:

House Points
Gold

143

Green

129

Red

90

Blue

Congratulations to Gold House on their success. Also awarded were the Age Champions. Congratulations to those winners who received recognition for their effort.

Events like sports don’t happen without a lot of collaboration, teamwork and community spirit. Thanks should go to Ms. Ognenis for coordinating the carnival this year, the PE Department, VCAL student helpers and staff who acted as officials and carried out other duties to make the day flow smoothly.  A final thank you should go to all the students who attended and showed their support; in particular, the House Captains who worked hard on House Colour Day, Thursday 23 February and at the sports to generate team spirit.
