Psychologist in print.

Hi from Michelle

Let the bargaining begin...

By now your child will be bargaining with you. They will feel like they have complied with our request to learn from home and its time to be with their friends again. This is a normal part of the loss associated with change of lifestyle, especially when the change is forced upon us. We are with you on this journey and also hear the student voice.

Young Dathan (JJAC) clearly wants to be in his classroom. He writes to his teacher Monica Jackson "Dear Mrs Jackson, I can't wait to see you once the germs are gone and come back to school. Here is a keychain I made with mum during our time. From D. The end."

Emilee (JLEI) informed her teacher Susana Leiva "I hope the Coronavirus goes away so we can see each other and play with our friends. I am really wanting to be back at school and together"

Laughlan (JGEO) said "I miss doing Go Noodle with Lisa Flockhart"

Simi (JLEI) told the Upper Junior department in his"Google Meet" that "I want to go back to school to see all my friends and play Tiggy outside with Mr Bacus, Ty, Ethan, Michael and Alexis"

In our 'Google Meet' with Madi (JSPE) and Oleira (JSPE), Madi put her hand up. She said “I have something to say – I miss you all”. This was truly lovely to hear from Madi. Her teacher Hayley Spector said it was the sweetest moment.

Jasmine (SMAL) reported how much she enjoyed the work Natasha Malcom sent  home about gratitude. Now she says "I am really grateful for my friends at Naranga and I miss being at school"

Ethan (JLEI)  - "I want to go back to school, I miss everybody, I just want to go back to school"

Susan Dunn has told the staff how much Taya (SDUN) has expressed missing school and wanting to be with her friends.

Bol (JDAF) was very honest and wrote in a group chat that he missed his friends. Then the whole department sung Happy Birthday to their friend Malakai.

Of course we miss the students too but the restrictions are not lifted yet and if they can learn at home they must learn at home. It is important we help the students understand why they cannot see their friends at this time.

"Birdie and the Virus"

A story called "Birdie and the Virus" has beautifully written by Andrea Baldwin. QLD Health have presented the book online with an accompanying song. Enjoy story time and support our younger students understand why they must stay home.
