Holy Cross happenings
HOLY CROSS CHRISTMAS CONCERT
The Holy Cross Christmas concert will be on next Tuesday 13th December at 6.00pm.
The concert will take place on the playground. Please bring along chairs/picnic rugs. The PFA will be selling soft drinks and running a BBQ before and during the event.
We will be sending around a collection box for families to donate gold coins towards Gisborne Foodbank.
GRADUATION
This Tuesday our Year 6 children celebrated their Graduation starting with a beautiful Mass at St Brigid’s followed by dinner back at Holy Cross.
Thank you to all the Year 5 families and volunteers who decorated the multi-purpose room to create a magical Christmas wonderland! Thank you also to the Year 7 wait staff who came back to help on the night.
We would like to congratulate the Year 6’s and wish them all the best for their next high school endeavours.
Save Your Soft Drink Bottles and Ice Cream Containers!
There are several projects planned for Outdoor Ed next year that require the use of soft drink bottles and ice cream containers.
Could families please hold onto any 2 litre soft drink bottles you may use over the Christmas holidays and bring them to school early next year to help us out?
Thank you!
LIBRARY
LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE NOW
As we are coming to the end of the year, it is time for all students to return their library books to the library ASAP.
Student’s with books that need to be returned or have overdue books, will receive notices next week to promptly return their books. If overdue books are not returned or are lost there will be a small cost incurred.
We would appreciate all families having a look at home for any books that belong to the school library. They may have mistakenly been put away with your children’s own collection of books.
YEAR 6 SOCIAL JUSTICE MARKET
STUDENT MEDICATIONS
Medication will be sent home with your child on the last day of school. Please make sure your child's medication is up to date when returning medication in 2023.
HCHGT Grand Final
Great excitement filled the Multipurpose room as the children gathered for the grand final. Patrick in grade 5 opened the show telling funny yarns that had the audience in stitches. Singing Siblings Charlotte and Oliver had us singing along with them to Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’, while our youngest performers Eva, Chloe and Alma showed us their best dance moves. ‘The Goodnight Goodnight Show’ Rose, Alice and Estelle performed some original material and Denzil in grade 6 showed what a talented musician he is.
Special mention to Hanna Visagie who also made it into the grand final but was unable to perform due to illness. It would have been a treat to hear Hanna’s beautiful voice again.
With all votes counted, I’m pleased to announce that the winner of HCHGT for 2022 is Denzil Green. Congratulations Denzil, you certainly have a bright future ahead as a musician. A special presentation for all grand finalists will be held at our last assembly.
Congratulations to everyone who entered and performed in HCHGT. It was wonderful to see the variety and depth of talent that exists at our school.
Thanks to everyone involved in making HCHGT run each week, in particular the grade 6 helpers. Lots of planning and organisation is needed in running the show each week and it would not have run as smoothly as it did without their help.
