Library

"Reading makes all other learning possible.  We have to get books into our children's hands early and often."  Barack Obama

Term 1 has been amazing.  A full term of students in the library playing games, reading, talking, creating, relaxing and borrowing!

Borrowing has been strong on both campuses, with Holloway Road showing an increase in their loans.  Overall 427 books were borrowed by students in just over a one month period.

Makerspace

The Makerspace area is a hub of creativity.  It's great to see students from all year levels socialising as they create.  This term students have created jewellery, felting, drawing, rock art, decoupage, scratch art and macramé.

Clubs

Book Club

Both libraries have book clubs this year.

Holloway Road will offer The book versus Netflix/Movie.  The first book they are reading is Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu.

Bluff Road will run a circular book club.  Each member will nominate a book they would like to read.  That book will be passed onto each member to read.  By the end of the year there will have been lots of conversations and a wide range of books read.

Books to be read include...

  • 20,000 Leagues under the sea by Jules Verne
  • How to make a movie in 12 days by Fiona hardy
  • We were liars by E Lockhart
  • Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
  • Warriors by Erin Hunter

Magic Monday made its return after a long break, and it was crazy!

Thank you to Mr. Small and Mr. Kong for helping to pass on their expertise to those students new to the game of Magic the Gathering.
