We have also launched our new Art Academy for years 7 to 9.  This is a great opportunity for our art students to extend themselves through their art practice.  Both Miss Daly and Mr Morgan  have developed a wonderful program incorporating drawing, painting and printing.  We look forward to sharing the students art work in the future.

Year 7 Art

This term in year 7 Art, the students have been learning about the Art style Dada. Researching this movement took students back to World War I, when Dada formed as a negative reaction to horrors and folly of war. The students looked at the famous Dada Artist Hannah Hoch, whose pieces confronted the powerful and advocated for women's rights in Germany, 1919. While looking at Dada, the students focused on the art form Collage and developed collaging techniques, in both digital and tradition format. The students assessed learning task for the term is to create a Dada inspired collage piece that communicates a message or meaning of their own choosing. They have worked through the term to develop their understanding of Dada and Collage techniques to ultimately create a unique art piece of their own. Currently the students are working to submit their final pieces, and we can't wait to see the finishing results. Keep your eyes peeled for these displays at the end of term 1.

Art Academy

This term in Art Academy students have been exploring traditional and historical methods of understanding composition. The students have developed their ability to create observational drawings, compositional studies, and are currently working on crosshatching through intaglio printmaking. These skills are designed to build students’ understanding of proportion in preparation for an exploration into painting skills next term. Students are encouraged to extend themselves beyond their comfort zone to discover new skills and possibilities for their personal styles.
