Book Week Celebration

Last week, students in Year 3/4 celebrated Book Week. The theme for this year’s annual event was "Dreaming with eyes open...". Throughout each reading session, students explored a different short-listed picture story book and then completed an activity based on the book.

To conclude Book Week, students dressed in their favourite book character costume for a whole school parade. The teachers also got into the spirit of Book Week, dressing up as the characters Bluey and Blinky Bill, taking out first and second place for the best-dressed teacher!

Artist in Residence

During week 6, the school was lucky enough to have an incredible artist, Emma Stenhouse, come in to teach the students about Aboriginal art and culture.

The students engaged with the art program with great interest and took away some great learnings about how to engage with Aboriginal art and how to understand their icons.

Reader's Theatre

In Week 6, students participated in Reader’s Theatre during Reading. Reader’s Theatre is a dramatic presentation of a story, in which students use scripts and performance to enhance the comprehension of a text. Students worked in groups to practise their plays (Little Red Riding Hood, The Gingerbread Man & Jack and the Beanstalk) and then performed in front of their class. The students enjoyed participating in Reader’s Theatre, even making props and dressing up in character to enhance their group performance!
