NAIDOC Week

National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) Week is the first week of July each year and is an opportunity to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.

At Verney Road School we participated in activities with students from ASHE where we learnt about the Aboriginal flag, did some face painting and played some traditional games.

We also enjoyed performances by the Galyna Yenbena Dance group.

We would like to thank both of these groups for sharing their culture and learnings with us.
