From the Principal

 Supporting Our Families through COVID-19

Thank you families for your support during these unprecedented times.  I encourage you all at this time to put your family's well being first. Please reach out if you need any support. I pray that the virus will run its course quickly, and we are able to get back to our normal, happy school routine.

I encourage families to send in any home learning photos we can share in the newsletter.

Thank you to the families who have sent supporting messages to staff. We are really missing the children and hope that we are all back at school soon.

Attached is correspondence from Mr Chris Smyth CSO regarding school fees support for term 2.  Please read the letter and if you fit the criteria mentioned in the letter and would like to discuss assistance with Term 2 fees please phone the school and speak to me.

Keep up the great work!

Thank you mums and dads for working with your children at home to ensure that their learning continues each day.  Just a reminder the ‘home school’ day will be a lot shorter than the usual ‘at school’ day—students working on their own will complete work a lot faster. As a result students should achieve up to 3 hours of focussed tasks on English, Maths & Religious Education each day with work from one of the following Key Learning Areas each day - Creative Arts, PDHPE, History / Geography, Science/ Technology.

Communication

Classroom teachers have all sent emails/letters in regard to learning from home this week. Teachers will also check in with families to see how they everyone is going by phone during the week. We want our students to feel supported and connected to school while working from home. Please contact school if you have any questions by phone or email.

Thank you to Staff

I would like to say thank you to the staff for ensuring our children have material to work from home with.  I thank all the staff for their dedication, hard work and commitment to all of our students and families.

Mindfulness

During these times it is important that we look after our own wellbeing. Taking time to practice mindfulness it is a great tool to help you stay calm and healthy physically and mentally.

Smiling Mind is a free app that can be downloaded to your smartphone that offers mindfulness programs for children and adults.

The latest advice from the Government:

Prime Minister Scott Morrison confirmed restrictions for public gatherings were reduced to a maximum of two people, and skate parks, playgrounds and outdoor gyms were closed.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian supported this and said ‘if you can work from home you should...only in exceptional circumstances should you be leaving home.”
