Back in Business!

We are Back...........Yeah!

Yes, we are certainly looking forward to seeing all the little bright happy faces of the kiddies in F/1 and 2/3 areas next Tuesday. We have all worked really hard to make this work for the kids, parents and teachers, so please be patient and observe the instructions and requests to observe social distancing.

As principal I could not be prouder or more impressed with how teachers and ES staff have so professionally gone about their teaching and maintaining support with such a positivity mindset. I must also acknowledge the hard work of you as parents dealing with  a new mindset of teaching. Your level of commitment to make remote learning work must be acknowledged, so thank you.

Covid -19 Marshalling @ Newlands

On a more local and important note we have developed our own local strategy for reconnecting students back to school on Tuesday 26th May. We hope that the message is clear and straightforward. In all seriousness we ask that you read the instructions and observe our requests to socially distance yourself from each other and the Newlands staff. So, familiarise yourself with the page titled Covid Marshalling @ Newlands.

Re-connecting to School

We understand that next Tuesday is very important for you, but also for the little one who just got started at school. So, our educational emphasis for the next two weeks will be reconnecting children with school. This will be through play and other social type of activities. One major aspect of the next two weeks will be not using devices to learn. We think this will assist students to make important connections with each other and their teachers.

Congratulations!

I would like to acknowledge the wonderful largesse extended to both Reservoir Primary School ($3.8Million) in the State Electorate of Preston, and Preston South Primary School ($14.8Million) in the State Electorate of Northcote. I'm sure the funds afforded to them both will go someway, and give value to the number plate slogan - "Victoria the Education State"

We can only hope that someone will find the odd bit of loose change at the back of the parliamentary couch and will kindly splurge it on our educational waif we all affectionately refer to as Newlands.

Thank you Martin

Today I would like to acknowledge Martin who we all know has been the face, the concierge of Newlands for nearly two years. As of today, Martin will start his personal leave and not return to Newlands at all. Martin has included a personal message in this newsletter for the community.

I would like to formally acknowledge his work in the office and his level of commitment to the community, especially with trying to provide support to parents uploading Sentral. His smiling and inviting manner has been a great asset to Newlands. So thank you Martin from me and from all of the staff thank you, look after yourself and all the best for the future.
