Senior Boys Division Winners

Congratulations to all players who represented the school at the SSV (School Sport Victoria) Northern Region Finals. This was after our boys won the Division Finals earlier last term.

On a tough day against quality opposition, the boys played some excellent football.  After late withdrawals, we were only left with 17 players to start our first game against Viewbank. Despite working hard, their bigger bodies and more experienced players led to a 6-2-38 v 0-0-0 scoreline at half-time. The second half was a different story, however. The late arrival of Nat (our 18th man), a willingness to work hard and support each other  created multiple scoring opportunities. The play of the day was a desperate and outnumbered Prinny Hill defense winning back possession, switch the play to the open side, link up through the middle and capped off by a wonderful running goal by Theo. We tied the half, 3-1-19 apiece. Better players were George, Theo, Dion, Max B, Alex & Jim.

The second game was against Northcote High, who were fresh playing their first game of the day. They had a number of TAC and club-standard players, so it was always going to be a difficult task. Despite the 16 goals to 2 (both long bombs from George) scoreboard, again I was extremely proud of the work rate, willingness to protect each other and general attitude of our team. With no bench and both games fast paced, there were no complaints (that I noticed anyhow, I did zone out a couple of times) and all boys represented themselves and the school extremely well. A special thanks to all the Year 12's, many of whom have been involved in every game possible with PHSC over the past 6 years. I wish you all the best with your future football endeavours.
