Preps Special Message

FOR ARCARE RESIDENTS

Students in Prep S and Prep P recently created cards along with a video of song and hello that was sent to the local ACARE residents. Watch the heart warming video below.

Learning, Connecting and Caring.

It is good to reflect on how we have grown and expanded our capacity during this season of online learning, despite the challenges we have faced.  As the Learning Support team have shared in recent days, there has been much to be thankful for:

  • We have grown as a team, in understanding each other, in how we work together and our bond is stronger.
  • We have grown in our faith and learnt to trust God as we have been stretched.
  • We have all learnt new IT skills.
  • We have developed a greater understanding of our students as we have ‘Zoomed’ and supported them remotely.

We are grateful that despite the changes that God remains the same.

At the start of Term 2 (during Continuous Online Learning) Mrs Terrington organised a challenge to go out to some of our students from Year 1 through to Year 7.  It was a very open-ended challenge to investigate an area of interest and relate it back to our School Theme for the year – Treasures in Heaven. Congratulations to all those who participated.

Here are some extracts from some of the completed projects:

A couple of puzzles from Marcus and Declan’s Treasure Trove Challenge puzzle book -

Enquiry questions by Alyssa, Year 7 -

“How do we gain treasure if God Is telling us to give everything away?”

-why must we give everything away

-what will we gain if we give everything away

-how will we cope if we don’t own anything

Extract from a project about Penguins by Isabelle Year 2 -

Parents & Friends Association

Dear Parents,

On behalf of the Parents and Friends Association (PFA)  we hope that your children have enjoyed their return to classroom teaching in Term 2 and are looking forward to spending some family time together over the holiday period.

The COVID-19 social distancing and other restrictions continue to provide a safeguard to the well-being of the Community. The PFA encourages families to stay in contact with each other during this unique period of time to reduce the sense of isolation that some people may experience from reduced physical social interaction. There are a range of social media platforms through which families can stay connected and stay informed about each other’s activities.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with all families affected by the COVID-19 environment and the PFA will look to resume activities during the second half of the year as the COVID-19 restrictions are relaxed and we believe that we can safely arrange for the Community to reengage with each other in relevant activities.

Best Regards,

Andrew O'Brien

PFA President

VCE Students Earn University ‘Distinctions’

A huge congratulations to two St Andrews Christian College students - Mykaela Coppens and Kassandra Lam for undertaking a first year university subject as a part of their 2019 VCE studies and each earning a ‘Distinction’ from Deakin University in their chosen subject.

This is a tremendous achievement for both of the girls and one that has made everyone at St Andrews Christian College immensely proud of you - well done!

Both Mykaeala and Kassandra enrolled in the 2019 ‘Higher Education Study in VCE’ program and undertook a 1st Year Deakin University subject in ‘Health Practice and Research’.

This accelerated program is available to all students who have done well in previous studies and are looking for an extra challenge of studying a first year University subject as part of their VCE year. A successful pass in that subject counts towards their VCE score and provides a defined pathway into a tertiary program.

If you would like to know more or enrol in this program contact Careers Coordinator, Mrs Irena Yevahova at St Andrews Christian College.
