Dan Lee is leaving St Andrews Christian College

I am sad to inform you that our Head of Middle School, Mr Dan Lee will be finishing at St Andrews Christian College as from Friday, 26th June (last day of Term 2). Dan has been with us for 11 ½ years, first as a classroom teacher and in the last 4 ½ years as Head of Middle School.

Dan is a really friendly and kind man; he is funny and can laugh at himself! He is passionate about developing people in their giftings and has successfully empowered his staff in extraordinary ways.

Dan has a sharp, logical mind and a gift for strategic planning and leading others in this area, as he has done for the ELT over the last couple of years. He has a deep love for St Andrews Christian College and in his integrity and humility has fully affirmed and supported the executive decision to move to a Primary/Secondary model for 2021.

Dan plans to use the rest of the year to undertake further study (MBA) and to seek God’s guidance as to his next venture in life with his beautiful wife, Charlene and children, Zara and Josiah.

We will certainly be excited to hear what God has in store for Dan in the future!

Please all join me in thanking Dan for all he has done for the College! Together we wish Dan the best for his future and blessings over him and his family.

FASTEN YOUR PINK RIBBON -

Mrs Farmer's ACTUALLY TURNED PINK!

As reported in the last newsletter, June is the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s (NBCF) fundraising month. As a survivor of breast cancer, living with the trauma, the scars and the fear of it returning, it is something that means a lot to me. Currently in Australia, 8 women lose their life to breast cancer every day.

I wanted to do my bit to give back to the medical professionals who helped me avoid being one of those 8 per day women. So in honour of all women who are currently going through the trauma of breast cancer, all who have gone through it and all who have lost their lives...

Yesterday I dyed my hair pink!

A special thanks to St Andrews parent Naagla Iskandar who did the transformation to PINK!

With help from our amazing St Andrews community and others, I have so far raised $2,313 smashing my target of $1000.

All of the money raised is being directed towards;

i) research that can identify genetic defects and other DNA anomalies that can cause breast cancer,

ii) equipment that can improve screening so that cancers are detected earlier and

iii) development of new technologies and techniques that can also improve and enhance screening processes and treatments.

I would to say a special thanks to parent Naagla Iskandar who did the transformation to PINK! It is certain that all of the students who've been told off about uniform and hair colour etc by me would have loved seeing the brightly pink topped Mrs Farmer “break the rules” for this good cause. Please understand, however, that this is ONLY for this good cause and a one-off, nor is pink hair something that students are permitted to do.

Donations are still accepted until June 30 if you would still like to contribute to this fantastic cause at https://fundraise.nbcf.org.au/fundraisers/nataliefarmer.

Lions international Peace Poster Contest

PEACE THROUGH SERVICE

St Andrews Students aged 11 to 13 are invited to enter the Lions International Peace Poster Contest. Students are encouraged to creatively express what peace means to them. The 2020-2021 contest theme is "Peace Through Service". This contest allows students to share their unique images of peace with others, so that we may all have greater tolerance and international understanding.

A St Andrews winner will be selected from all our student entries and then entered in via the Lions club for judging. Posters are evaluated on three criteria at each level of judging; originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme, "Peace Through Service".
