Writing

For writing the Foundation students have been learning what an adjective is and how we can use them in our writing to make our writing more interesting. They have used images to describe different animals such as a dog, cat or a turtle and have also described an ice cream! They loved creating their own monsters and describing them as well!

Another fun activity we did was dressing up the Big Bad Wolf in different clothes!! They then had to use adjectives to tell us about what their Big Bad Wolf was wearing!

Maths

We have been doing lots of hands-on Maths lessons over the past two weeks! Last week we were learning about 'equal groups' and how we can divide and share things equally. With such nice weather last week, we decided to take our maths lesson outdoors! The students used chalk and natural materials to work out a question I had given them. First I would ask them to draw a certain about of groups and then ask them to have 2 or 4 or 5 things in each group. They then told me how many there were altogether.

This week for maths we have been learning about Data and Data Representation. In class, we collected data by asking and answering yes or no questions and then worked out what was the most and least popular. The Foundations enjoyed collecting data on some jelly beans! Their favourite part was eating them at the end!!!

We also had a special mini excursion up the road to collect data on cars as they drove past. We counted and took tallies of hope many cars we saw and what colour they were. When we returned to the classroom we made a graph to find out what coloured car we saw the most and what one we saw the least! It was heaps of fun!!

Puppet Plays

Here are some more of our puppet plays of Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Little Red Riding Hood!
