St Mary of the Cross

This week we had a whole school mass to celebrate the life, sainthood and inspiration of Mary Mackillop, Australia's first canonized saint.

In class the students have been learning about St Mary of the Cross (Mackillop)

The F/1/2 class used artwork to learn about Mary.

"Mary is teaching the kids in a circle." Spencer

"She taught the poor and aboriginal children." Liam\

"There are crosses, a crown and some flowers." Aleisha

"The Kookaburra and Kiwi are for Mary's work in Australia and New Zealand." Archer J

"Mary is dancing and jumping for Joy." Taylor, Aleah & Liliana

The 3/4 recorded some of their learning about Mary.

"In 1867 she was a teacher and she taught poor kids whose parents could barely afford food.
Mary started up the Sister of St. Joseph and had 127 nuns in 27 schools."
