This week for PBL we have been looking at how we can be Respectful in our interactions with our Peers and Teachers, but also our Families and those in the Community. Each class discussed and identified what Respect looks like, sounds like and feels like. This was important in discussing why and how someone gets our Respect. Within the lesson, we also looked at different types of behaviour such as identifying different behaviours depending on if they were rude or Respectful. There were such great discussions had between all students and we are looking forward to continuing to see how Respectful all of our students are.
This week for Friendship Groups we focused on learning about the differences between our own thinking and choices and when we make choices that effect others. Students looked at different scenarios of how we can choose to react to different things and how we can stop and think about something before we do it and notice if it effects others or if it is only benefiting us.
On Tuesday the 3/4 students had an incursion via zoom from Kids Helpline! This workshop was all about 'Friendship'. The students enjoyed their session in learning about different strategies about what a positive friendship looks like and what does positive communication with their friends sound like. The students identified that a healthy and positive friendship involves good communication, being respectful, being polite, including each other, being honest and supporting one another. Duyring the session the students also learnt strategies to help them talk about problems that may happen in the playground with their friends. A helpful script they could use is: "I feel ................ when .............. can we talk about this? The students were really great in the practising of this skill. It was a great session for all.
Recently we have noticed a few kids coming to school, that haven't been having breakfast. Breakfast is a great way to give the body the refueling it needs. Skipping breakfast can make kids feel tired, restless, or irritable. In the morning, their bodies need to refuel for the day ahead. Their mood and energy can drop by midmorning if they don't eat something for breakfast. Breakfast kick-starts the body's metabolism, the process by which the body converts the fuel in food to energy.
