Year 5-6 Chinese Lessons

As mentioned in the last edition of this newsletter, the Year 5-6 students had their first Chinese language lesson last Friday. I was very fortunate to observe this lesson and what an engaging experience it was! All of the students were actively involved and they had the opportunity to practise amongst themselves as well as their classmates, various forms of greetings and farewells in Mandarin. I am sure that all of the students are looking forward to the next lesson tomorrow!

Year 3-6 Band Lessons

It was great to see that we were able to welcome back James from the New England Conservatorium of Music yesterday. It has been six months since James has been here at St Patrick's and the students were very pleased to have him back. Most of the students in Year 3 had their first lesson and there was definitely a lot of excitement when they were officially given their instruments and most of them were taken home to further practise the various skills that were covered. I can definitely see that a large number of the students will be showing off their skills in the very near future at our annual talent quest and hopefully a proper school band recital at the end of the year.

Religion in Yr 1/2

Year 1/2 is currently studying a unit of work in Religion time on Baptism.  If possible, could you please answer the following with your child and send back in to school for us to share?

Thanks so much

Anna Flanagan

ACTIVITY:

Children to interview/discuss with their parents about their own Baptism, find out who baptised them, the date and who their godparents are.

Children not baptised could interview their parents about what celebrations happened when they were born.

Children can bring in items from home of their Baptism, eg photos, baptismal candle, baptismal certificate or detail written down by parent.

Kindergarten

Kinder had great fun at the swimming carnival and we are now exhausted and emotional.

Luckily we had Mini Minstrels today which put us all in a better frame of mind.

We are settling into school and we all love one another.
