GIVIT - Happy Easter Gift

In the mail this week families will receive vouchers from GIVIT organisation.

 GIVIT’s NSW Drought Relief Officer about $48,000+ in recent donations for drought & bushfire-affected New England and Upper Hunter communities.

In the last fortnight, Melissa Bowman has spent thousands of dollars with local businesses in Tenterfield, Nundle, Uralla, Walcha and Gloucester.

Nundle Public School: Families attending the school have been impacted by the drought for years. GIVIT gave $3,300 in fuel vouchers to the local Service Station and $2,200 in grocery vouchers to the local Supermarket.

Uralla Neighbourhood Centre: Local families & farmers have been living in drought for years and urgently needed financial support. GIVIT gave $1,500 in butcher vouchers, $1,500 in Pharmacy vouchers, $1,500 in grocery vouchers, $500 in bakery vouchers, $500 in hardware vouchers and $500 in café vouchers with local businesses.

Walcha - St Patrick’s Primary School: The isolated rural school supports families significantly affected by the drought & recent bushfires. GIVIT gave $4,500 in vouchers for students’ families for uniforms, hairdressers, grocery vouchers and newsagent items with local businesses.

Armidale Family Support Services: GIVIT gave $4,500 in grocery, pharmacy and fuel vouchers with local businesses for struggling drought-affected families.

Gloucester - St Joseph’s School: The small primary school couldn’t afford to update vital outdoor areas and classroom resources. GIVIT gave the school $6,000 in vouchers for local hardware, garden nursery, uniform retailer, furniture store and office retailers.

Gloucester - Anglican Church: GIVIT gave farmers in desperate need of financial assistance $6,000 in vouchers at local supermarkets, butchers, hardware, clothing and fuel retailers. 

Tenterfield - Torrington Memorial Hall Trust: Supporting dozens of families affected by bushfires & now Coronavirus isolation, GIVIT gave the Trust:

·        $11,000 in hardware store vouchers for fencing repairs/materials

·        $4,000 in vouchers for the local newsagent to purchase home-schooling supplies

·        And 6 generators from a donor through GIVIT’s online donation portal.

Operating ‘as usual’ amidst the regional spread of Coronavirus, GIVIT are continuing to work with local organisations to coordinate donations of items requested by residents in need - such as equipment, grocery vouchers and school stationery & uniforms for households facing hardship.
