Holy Thursday

Holy Thursday is on the 9th April and is the commemoration of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ, when he established the sacrament of Holy Communion prior to his arrest and crucifixion. The Last Supper was the final meal Jesus shared with his Disciples in Jerusalem. He broke bread and drank wine, as we do in Mass and washed the Disciples feet.

Good Friday

Good Friday is on the 10th April. It is the day Jesus Christ was crucified; nailed to a Cross and died. He was flogged, tormented, ridiculed and crowned with thorns. He carried his cross to Calvary, was then nailed to the cross and crucified. The events that led to Jesus’ Crucifixion are known in the Stations of the Cross.  Following the incredible events of the day, the body of Christ was removed from the cross and laid in a donated tomb, buried according to custom.

Catherine McAuley

A quote from the writings of Catherine -

Let us fly often to the foot of the cross and repose in the wounds of Jesus. He has written us in His hands. Shall we not write His wounds in our minds and hearts?

Catherine McAuley Venerable: 9 April this year will mark the 30th Anniversary of Catherine being pronounced Venerable by Pope St John Paul. We earnestly ask you to continue to keep Catherine’s cause in your prayer.  We hope and pray that this thirtieth celebration, the beginning of a new decade, will be the time we see Catherine beatified.‘ Over these next 9 days (1-9 April 2020) we are invited to pray the Prayer for Catherine’s Canonisation.
