Annual General Meeting 23rd May 2022

On Monday 23rd of May  our 2022 AGM was held, where the 2021 Annual report to the School Community was tabled.

School Council Meeting Report 28th November and 12th December

This month’s School Council meeting predominantly focused on planning and organisation for the end of this year and the2023 school year.

Child Safe Training

School Council representatives undertook the annual  mandatory annual child safety training. This is now a mandatory requirement under the Child Safe Standards. Jarrod presented an overview of the Child Safe Standards, Compliance requirements and our school’s child safe policies, procedures and School Council representative and staff responsibilities, 

Junior School Council 

Junior School Council organised the extremally successful MPWPS Colour Fun Run, that took place on Friday 9th of December, at Maribyrnong Park. This was a school-based fundraiser, where part of the funds raised will go directly to our school and the other part will be used to cover costs for the day and support our environment. 

2023 Enrolments 

It was reported that enrolment numbers for 2023, are slightly lower than 2022 with around 352 projected. 

2023 Transition Day and Class Placement 

MPWPS students will be involved on a Whole School Orientation Day, on Tuesday 13th December 2022 together with the year 6 Students having their high school transition sessions.

 

Class Placement Forms for 2023 were sent home and will form the basis of the students 2023 class selection. The purpose of this form is to give parents/carers the opportunity to inform teachers of any important considerations for appropriate class placement in 2023.

End of Year 

The school’s final assembly will be held this Friday 16th December 2022 at 2pm on the tiger turf.  We look forward to seeing as many parents/carers as possible at the event. 

 

School Council has also endorsed the last day of school on Tuesday 20th December be a pupil free day to allow staff to prepare onsite for the 2023 school year. 

 

Monday 19th December will be the last day of for students with dismissal at 3:30pm.

Curriculum Days for 2023

A reminder that in 2023, we will continue to have four Curriculum Days, which will focus on Professional Practice/Development and Report Writing. Proposed Pupil Free Days are as follows: 

Term 1- Day 1, Friday 27th January 2023

Term 1- Day 2, Monday 30th January 2023 (Our year 1-6 students will commence school on Tuesday January 31st and our Foundation students will commence school on Friday February 3rd)

Term 2- Monday 24th April 2023 

Term 3- Monday 14th August

Term 4- Monday 6th November 2023

 

Budget Planning for 2023 has begun with School Council reviewing the draft budget for 2023 together with endorsing the adjusted 2023 Book Packs to ensure all items are essential and will be used throughout the year. 

 

Resources Committee

Lunch orders are going electronic in 2023. Negotiations have been taking place for the Darling Street Café using a new online lunch ordering system for 2023 with a new App called “Spriggy”. More information will be forthcoming at the start of the school year in 2023.

 

The committee was pleased to inform the community that the new shade sail (corner of Lennox and Eglinton Streets) has been .We will now look at landscaping and opportunities for a passive play space and seating. We will seek input from the JSC for this space.

 

Discussions took place about Parent Payment/Contribution Arrangements 2023. School Council has attempted to keep the same in place as in 2022.

 Capital Works Update

School Council received a presentation from the appointed architect – BSPN and the Victorian School Building Authority with a high-level design for the various stages of the AMP2. The AMP2 considers the design of the facilities that best support the desired outcomes including the creation of shared spaces, innovation hub and curiosity centre.. We look forward to sharing more information over the course of 2023.

General Discussion

 The process for the School Review has been completed.  Victorian Public schools must participate in a review every 4 years and provides an opportunity for reflection of current practice and will inform the development of the school’s 4-year School Strategic Plan. More information will be provided in early 2023.
