Reflection

Tomorrow is the feast of the Annunciation of the Lord. We read in the gospel story that the angel Gabriel announced that Mary was to be the mother of Jesus. We are happy that the Son of God loved us enough to become one of us. We are happy that Mary said "yes" to God in a very special way. Many others have said their own "yes' to Jesus.

Let us read the words of the holy gospel according to Luke:

God sent the angel Gabriel to the town of Nazareth in Galilee with a message for a virgin names Mary. She was engaged to Joseph from the family of King David. The angel greeted Mary and said, "You are truly blessed! The Lord is with you."

Mary was confused by the angels words and wondered what they meant. Then then angel told Mary, "Don't be afraid! God is pleased with you and you will have a son. His name will be called Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of God Most High."

Mary asked the angel, "How can this happen? I am not married!"

The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come down to you, and God's power will come over you. So your child will be called the holy Son of God."

Mary said, "I am the Lord's servant! Let it happen as you have said.

Prayer

Hail Mary, full of grace,

the Lord is with you!

Blessed are you among women,

and blessed is the fruit

of your womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

prayer for us sinners,

now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

CARITAS-Project Compassion

This Lent, let us consider how we can ensure that we work ‘for all future generations' around the world.

Together, we can make a difference now, and For All Future Generations.

FEATURE STORIES

Across the six weeks of Lent, CARITAS share stories of resilient people trying to ‘be more’ for their families and communities. Read their inspiring tales, and see how your generosity makes a difference.

Project Compassion Boxes

We are encouraged during Lent to give greater attention to those who might be in need. One way we are able to do this is by supporting Project Compassion over the forty days of Lent by making monetary contributions (big or small) to these boxes.

Please return your Project Compassion Boxes to school during the first week of next term.
