The four pillars of good mental health

Covid or no Covid, lockdown or no lockdowns, it is always important to take of ourselves. Below is a brief explanation of the four pillars of having a strong and healthy mind.

Nutrition

This sounds simple but it can be tricky when we have bad habits. Drink lots of water and have a balanced diet. When you improve the quality of foods that are fuelling your body, your mind improves with it.

Exercise

A daily 10-20-minute walk can be the difference between a bad or good mood for the day. You can combine this with listening to music or watching a show – as long as you are moving!

Consumption of positive material

You’ve heard the saying “out of sight, out of mind”.   On the reverse, whatever you are watching, listening to, talking about, reading or thinking about on a constant basis becomes your reality. Make sure you are consuming positive materials on a daily basis.

How is your sleep routine?

We need to ensure we are getting the adequate 6-8 hours of sleep our brains require to rest and recharge. Everyone gets in a bad mood when their sleep is out of whack and it gets harder to concentrate.
