Hi! My name is Lani and I have the pleasure each day of working with our youngest Northern Bay College children. We are a beautifully multicultural community of children at Kindergarten and we have been working towards celebrating Australian cultures. Following our focus on First Nations heritage we have been doing some work on the importance of story telling and the circle.  It was a long ....long....long.... process to form the circle. Young bottoms and legs have a mind of their own and finally we brought out some chairs. Our next plan is to have some log seating in a permanent circle so if you know of anyone who make have beautiful logs they dont need - please put them in touch!

At the end of the stories had some careful training on fire made a little firepit to Toast some Marsh Mallows. There was a lot of fidgeting as I was very authentic and made the fire from scratch! Phew! - in by gone times you would not want to be really hungry waiting for the Fire to catch to cook your dinner!.  The children were wonderful gathering leaves and twigs.

Our children are wonderful and want to do this again!

The Circle has been a very important part of our work this month and each of the groups have loved their 'SUNSHINE CIRCLE'

“The Family Centre is our own little village!  (We) parents and children have made lifelong friends here – we are just like family now – we are there for each other, and the staff are there for everyone! It’s amazing to watch all our kids grow together is such a safe and welcoming. It’s our second home.” (Quote from Parent)
