International Women's Day

By Alex  from Room 17

International Women’s Day is a very important day to some people and lots of women around the world take this day very seriously. I do too because throughout history, women have been treated poorly and sometimes even still are today.

An example of how this still happens today is if you go to a sport shop or a clothing store, there is often a girls section and a boys section. I think there should just be one whole section with a mix so you can be free to choose either.

Boys and girls should not be treated unequally. They should not have different expectations because girls are just as capable as boys.

It’s not just girls being treated differently though. What also is worrying is that if you’re re a boy and you’re not that good at sport, sometimes you’re put under pressure to ‘be like a man’. As a boy, you should be allowed to make your favourite colour pink or purple. You should be able to wear what you want without being judged.

Boys and girls should be treated equally without different expectations.
