DEPUTY PRINCIPAL, Wellbeing & Operations

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Mercy Day

Mercy Day was celebrated on Friday 9 SeptemberIt is the highlight of the College calendar and brought together the community in a special and most profound way, even more so this year as we have not been able to celebrate this special day since 2019.

The day began with the Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. At the Mass we celebrated our Catholic identity as a Mercy school founded upon the very values which we espouse and live each and every day – courage, compassion, hospitality, justice, respect, and service. After Mass, staff and students returned to the College for a BBQ lunch and entertainment (DJ in the Hall), followed by The Mercy Day Concert where performers representing Frayne, Goold, McAuley and Sherlock entertained us all.

I would like to acknowledge and thank all members of the community for their participation, organisation and extremely successful execution of the day and in particular all the parent helpers (18) for all their support in preparing, cooking and serving the BBQ lunch and then assisting with the clean-up and pack-up afterwards. Everyone’s hard work ensured a wonderful day of celebration of our Mercy story.

Year 7 Camp

With COVID infections on the rise and rules and restrictions still very much present and relevant at the beginning of the year, we decided to re-schedule the Year 7 Camp to the end of Term 3. So, the students along with 12 staff headed off to Don Bosco in Safety Beach on Tuesday 13th September for their 3-day camp. Whilst it wasn’t summer weather, the students all had an extremely enjoyable time, participating in activities designed to further strengthen friendships but also which allowed them to spend time and get to know other students, with whom they had not as yet forged a connection with.

Year 12 Graduation Mass & Farewell Assembly

As a College, we formally farewelled our Year 12 students with a Graduation Mass on the evening of Thursday 13th October and a Farewell Assembly the following morning. Both events were a fitting tribute to the wonderful students they have been throughout not only this year but undoubtedly the hardest few years of their senior school lives.
